My proven, 2 pronged approach, combines focused change management and adoption activities, with targeted focus sessions. These two complimentary workflows help illuminate the actual user experience, while enabling the organization to better embrace the changes already in place. And in the process, creating additional change champions for your team to utilize, not just for the next few roll outs, but often as resources to tap into before the next big launch. This is a focused deep dive – identifying leading organizational players impacted by the change from a management / team perspective. Over a period of 3-4 months the leadership team can expect to “move the needle” of change using very specific departmental engagement, one relationship at a time. This approach includes one-on-one coaching with myself and the project’s management team to create deeper communication and adoption with specific users and managers, using individualized communication strategies. There are also regularly held sessions to measure progress of individuals and teams throughout the life of the project. These are part accountability, part coaching, and part strategy sessions. And are only done with a select 1-2 leaders inside the organization....

How to Increase Both Experiment Success And User Adoption

Build It And They Will Come, They Said. And You Did, But They Didn’t Use It. What Happens When End Users Don’t Use What You As An Engineer Built? Do you want better experiment results? Did you create enhancements you felt certain users would love, but for some reason they aren’t using? This can happen more often than we would like to admit. The good news is, there are some simple easy ways to solve the puzzle and increase experiment success. I help Engineers increase the success of their experiments by giving them user data to help design in ways that both their clients and the end users desire and require. I don’t have a crystal ball. I do however have a proven, 2 step method to uncover why adoption isn’t there, and what to change to get it. The challenge is that end users often think differently than both those who design the system (the Engineers), and those who direct the needs for the system to fulfill (Management). When drilling down into real use cases, I often uncover additional use cases, or nuances to existing use cases, that help solve the user adoption puzzle. Everyone has organizational goals. The solution is finding how to mesh the various needs together, so that more people are happy with the outcome. When this occurs, the experiment can be deemed a success and rolled out for wider audiences with the assurance of enhanced adoption and additional change champions to help clear the way. And equally important, those in management are happier because their vision for streamlined processes and cost/time savings are met....

You Implemented A System, But Your User Engagement Isn’t Happening – Now What?

There are 2 phases of Change Management and Organizational Alignment that occur with a system implementation. The first is the most obvious – it happens during the initial implementation. The second, follows that implementation and is a step many organizations miss. Missing or shortening this 2nd phase directly impacts ongoing user adoption and engagement. The initial phase of an implementation often occurs after a board, or the government mandates a systems change by a certain date. And so you and your team do the traditional communication with a little bit of change management thrown in – the who’s impacted, what’s that messaging look like, how do we get that messaging out to them basic comms. But you don’t have the time to go much deeper than that. Once you have gotten through the mandated system change you realize your users aren’t happy, and you fear they might create workarounds. Or you are just plain frustrated, your users are frustrated because these mandated changes made life WORSE for everyone, not better! What do you do?
